Mental Performance Coaching for Competitive Female Basketball Players
Premium Group Mental Performance Coaching

She needs more than content.
She needs coaching she can use in the game.

Mentally StrongHer™ Group Coaching is a 4-month coaching program for competitive female basketball players who want weekly mental performance coaching, personalized support, and practical tools without the investment of full private coaching.

This is a coaching program, not a self-paced course. Athletes are expected to participate, bring real situations to coaching, and practice the mental skills between sessions.
Real coaching for the moments that decide whether her training shows up in the game.

She already works hard

The problem may not be how much basketball she is doing.

She can spend more time in the gym, get more shots up, and add another trainer. But if pressure changes how she thinks, reacts, and makes decisions, more basketball reps alone may not solve the problem.

The mental game has to be trained, applied, reviewed, and coached too.
She hesitates on plays she makes naturally in practice.

She knows what to do, but pressure slows down the decision.

One mistake becomes several bad possessions.

Instead of resetting, she keeps replaying what already happened.

She worries about Coach, the bench, or disappointing people.

Her attention leaves the next play and moves toward evaluation.

You keep encouraging her, but the same pattern comes back.

She needs repeatable mental skills she can use without waiting for someone else to talk her back into confidence.

Why group coaching works

She gets coached, and she learns from athletes who are fighting some of the same battles.

Weekly group coaching gives athletes a place to bring what is actually happening in practices and games. They learn from their own coaching, but they also hear how other competitive players work through pressure, mistakes, confidence, focus, and expectations.

This is not a weekly lecture.

The calls are built around coaching. Athletes bring real situations, questions, wins, setbacks, and pressure moments. We work through what happened, identify what needs to change, and decide what they will practice next.

The curriculum supports the coaching. It does not replace it.

What is included

Four months of coaching, support, practice, and repetition.

The program combines group coaching with private access, assessment, curriculum, and between-session support so she is not left trying to figure out how to apply the mental skills on her own.

01

Initial mental performance assessment

We begin by looking at her current mental performance strengths, challenges, and the areas that deserve attention first.

02

Initial private strategy session

We start with a private conversation so I understand her goals, what is happening in her game, and where she should begin inside the program.

03

Weekly live group coaching

Real coaching every week around pressure, mistakes, confidence, focus, self-talk, routines, and the situations athletes are facing right now.

04

Unlimited 15-minute Laser Coaching Sessions

Short, focused private coaching sessions for a specific issue, game, pressure moment, or mental performance skill when she needs more individualized help.

05

Email support between sessions

She can bring questions, wins, challenges, and real performance moments into the coaching process instead of waiting until the next group call.

06

Mentally StrongHer™ curriculum

The 9-step Method gives athletes a structured framework for understanding and training the mental side of competition.

07

Workbooks, tools, and resource vault

Practical exercises and resources help her practice what she is learning between coaching sessions.

08

Community with other competitive female players

A space where athletes can see that they are not the only ones dealing with pressure, mistakes, overthinking, or confidence swings.

The Mentally StrongHer™ Method

The curriculum has a structure. The coaching stays flexible.

Athletes are not forced through a rigid week-by-week course. The 9-step Method gives us the framework, while coaching allows us to focus on the areas that matter most for each athlete as situations come up.

Stage 1 · Awareness

See what is actually happening.

  • 01. The Mental Game Audit
    Measure where she stands now.
  • 02. Know Your Brain
Understand what pressure is doing to attention, emotion, and decisions.
  • 03. Rewire Limiting Beliefs
Identify the thinking patterns driving hesitation and self-doubt.
Stage 2 · Arsenal

Build responses she can execute.

  • 04. Own the Next Play
    Recover faster from mistakes.
  • 05. Practice With Purpose
Train the mental game inside physical practice.
  • 06. Stack the Evidence
Build confidence from proof, not hype.
Stage 3 · Arena

Make the skills hold up in competition.

  • 07. Activate Her GameFace
Prepare mind and body before competition.
  • 08. Lock In
Control attention when the game gets noisy.
  • 09. Reflect + Rise
Learn from performance without turning it into self-judgment.
How the program works

She can enter where she is and start working on what she needs.

The program is designed for rolling enrollment, so athletes do not have to wait for a new cohort to start from Week 1.

Step 1

Apply

You complete a short application so I can make sure group coaching is the right level of support for your daughter.

Step 2

Assess + Strategize

She completes her initial assessment and meets with me privately so we can identify where she should begin.

Step 3

Coach Weekly

She attends live group coaching and uses Laser Coaching and email support when she needs more focused help.

Step 4

Practice + Apply

She uses the tools in practice and games, brings back what happened, and keeps adjusting with coaching.

What we are working toward

Not perfect confidence. Better responses under pressure.

She is still going to get nervous, make mistakes, have hard practices, and face difficult games. The goal is for those moments to stop controlling as much of what happens next.

Recover faster from mistakes

One bad possession does not have to become the next three.

Play more decisively

Less hesitation and second-guessing when the game speeds up.

Trust herself more under pressure

She learns to compete without needing to feel perfect first.

Use mental skills independently

She has tools she can reach for without waiting for a parent or coach to rescue the moment.

Your daughter's mental performance coach

I know what the game asks of her because I have lived it.

I am Val Whiting, CMPC®, a former WNBA player, two-time NCAA Champion at Stanford, and mental performance coach specializing in competitive female basketball players.

I know what it is like to have the physical ability to perform and still struggle to access it when pressure takes over. That experience is part of why I teach athletes how to train the mental side of competition with the same intention they bring to the physical side.

A parent saw the difference

The point is for the work to show up in the game.

Mental performance coaching matters when the athlete starts using the skills during the moments that used to throw her off.

“After only a couple sessions with Coach Val, we saw a huge improvement! Her mental preparation for games was focused and her evaluation of her play after games was much more productive.”

Fit matters

She has to want to be part of the coaching.

Group coaching works best when the athlete is willing to participate, practice the skills, and bring her real experiences into the room.

Group Coaching

High-touch coaching at a lower investment than full private coaching.

Mentally StrongHer™ Group Coaching gives your daughter weekly live coaching, unlimited 15-minute Laser Coaching Sessions, email support, curriculum, tools, and community without the investment of private coaching.

1:1 Coaching

The highest level of personalization and private support.

The Competitive Edge Blueprint™ may be the better fit if she needs 12 full private sessions, three dedicated parent coaching sessions, individualized performance observation, and a more customized 90-day coaching experience.

This may be a fit if...

She is talented, but pressure is changing how she competes.
She wants coaching and is willing to work on the mental side of basketball.
She would benefit from both group learning and access to focused private coaching.
Your family wants more support than a membership, but does not need the full intensity of 1:1 coaching.

This is probably not a fit if...

×She has no interest in participating and is being forced into coaching.
×You are looking for guaranteed playing time, offers, statistics, or recruiting outcomes.
×You want motivation without her having to practice anything between sessions.
×The primary need is clinical mental health treatment rather than performance coaching.

Frequently asked questions

What families usually want to know.

Is this a course or a coaching program?
This is a coaching program. The Mentally StrongHer™ curriculum, workbooks, and resources support the work, but weekly live coaching is the center of the experience.
How do the 15-minute Laser Coaching Sessions work?
Laser Coaching Sessions are short private coaching appointments focused on one specific issue, pressure moment, upcoming game, or mental performance skill. They are designed for focused coaching when an athlete needs individual help between group sessions. Scheduling is based on available appointment times during the active program.
Can my daughter join if the group has already started?
Yes. The program is designed for rolling enrollment. The initial assessment and private strategy session help me understand where she should begin, and the curriculum gives her access to the resources she needs without requiring everyone to be on the same lesson at the same time.
What if my daughter can’t attend the weekly live coaching time?
Calls are recorded for athletes who occasionally have conflicts with games, practices, school, or travel. However, live participation is an important part of the Mentally StrongHer™ Group Coaching experience. If your daughter already knows she will be unable to attend the live calls on a regular basis, the group program may not be the right fit at this time.
What happens after the four months?
We will look at her progress and decide what level of support makes sense next. Continued coaching may be available depending on her needs and goals at that point.
Is this therapy?
No. This program focuses on mental performance skills related to basketball, including confidence, focus, self-talk, routines, mistake recovery, and performing under pressure. It is not a substitute for mental health treatment.
