Mental Performance Coaching for Competitive Female Basketball Players
1:1 Mental Performance Coaching

She does not need more talent.
She needs access to it under pressure.

The Competitive Edge Blueprint™ is 90 days of private mental performance coaching for talented female basketball players who look confident in practice but start losing pieces of their game when the pressure goes up.

I keep private coaching small on purpose. We start with the Strategy Session to see if this is the right fit for her.

You have probably said all the right things already

She knows what to do. That is why this is so frustrating.

You have seen her make the read in practice. You have watched her knock down the shot in workouts. After the game, she can usually tell you exactly what she should have done. That is why it can be so frustrating when pressure shows up and she starts hesitating, overthinking, or playing not to mess up.

If pressure is where the breakdown happens, pressure has to be part of what we train.
She gets tentative after one mistake.

The first bad possession changes the way she plays the next five.

She looks different in games than she does in practice.

More hesitation. More checking the bench. Less freedom.

She thinks too much while she is playing.

Instead of reacting to the game, she is evaluating herself in the middle of it.

Her confidence depends on what just happened.

A made shot lifts it. A turnover crushes it. Every make or mistake starts telling her how confident she is allowed to feel.

Why private mental performance coaching

This is not eight sessions of “believe in yourself.”

We are not spending 90 days telling her to be more confident. We figure out what is actually breaking down for her, then teach and practice the responses she needs before, during, and after competition.

She learns what to do when...

01nerves show up before the game
02she makes a mistake and feels herself spiraling
03she starts thinking about the coach, crowd, recruiting, or outcome
04she has to stay aggressive even when things are not going her way
05the game ends and she wants to replay every mistake
The Competitive Edge Blueprint™

Nine areas. Three stages. A plan instead of random mindset tips.

We are not pulling random tools out of a bag and hoping something sticks. First we figure out what is happening. Then we build the right skills. Then we work on using those skills when the game gets hard.

Stage 1 • Awareness

See what is actually happening.

  • 01. The Mental Game Audit
    Measure where she stands now.
  • 02. Know Your Brain
Understand what pressure is doing to attention, emotion, and decision-making.
  • 03. Rewire Limiting Beliefs
Identify and challenge the thinking patterns that keep showing up.
Stage 2 • Arsenal

Build responses she can execute.

  • 04. Own the Next Play
    Recover faster from mistakes.
  • 05. Practice With Purpose
Train the mental game inside physical practice.
  • 06. Stack the Evidence
Build confidence from proof, not hype.
Stage 3 • Arena

Make the skills hold up in competition.

  • 07. Activate Her GameFace
Prepare mind and body before competition.
  • 08. Lock In
Control attention when the game gets noisy.
  • 09. Reflect + Rise
Learn from performance without turning it into self-judgment.
What 90 days actually looks like

The work does not stop when the Zoom call ends.

A lot of the real work happens between sessions. She tries the skill in practice or a game, sees what happens, reports back, and we adjust. That is how the tools start becoming something she can actually trust under pressure.

01

Eight private coaching meetings

Eight private meetings across 90 days. We meet more frequently early on, then create more space for her to practice, apply, and come back with real feedback.

02

Between-session text support

Games do not wait for our next session. Between-session text support gives her a place to bring the real moments that happen while she is trying to use the tools.

03

Personalized mental performance plan

Her plan is built around what she actually struggles with, how she plays, the pressure she feels, and what she wants to change.

04

Parent communication

You are not left guessing about what she is working on or how to support her without accidentally adding more pressure.

05

Performance observation

I get to see how the mental game is actually showing up in competition so we are not relying only on what she remembers afterward. That gives us real moments to coach from.

06

Mentally StrongHer™ Academy access

Extra training, group support, and another place to reinforce what she is learning in private coaching.

You matter in this too

You should know how to help without becoming her second coach.

Most parents are trying to help. The hard part is knowing when to encourage, when to ask a question, and when to leave it alone. Part of this work is helping you understand what she is building so every car ride home does not turn into another performance review.

You are not supposed to fix every hard moment.

Your role is to help create an environment where she can learn to handle those moments herself. The goal is a more independent athlete who can reset, refocus, and make the next decision without needing someone else to talk her back into confidence.

What I want to see change

Not perfect confidence. Better responses.

I am not trying to create an athlete who never gets nervous, never doubts herself, or never has a bad game. I want her to know what to do when those things happen.

Recover faster from mistakes

The last possession stops controlling the next one.

Play more decisively

Less looking toward the bench, hesitating, and second-guessing decisions she already knows how to make.

Prepare with intention

She has a routine to lean on instead of hoping she wakes up feeling confident that day.

Reflect without beating herself up

Games become useful feedback instead of evidence about whether she is good enough.

A parent saw the difference

The goal is for the work to show up in the game.

I do not care if she can explain a mental skill perfectly on a Zoom call. I care whether you start seeing a difference in how she prepares, responds to mistakes, makes decisions, and handles the game when it gets real.

“After only a couple sessions with Coach Val, we saw a huge improvement! Her mental preparation for games was focused and her evaluation of her play after games was much more productive.”

Fit matters

I do not take every athlete into private coaching.

This only works if she is willing to be part of it. I do not want a parent dragging an athlete through 90 days of coaching she never wanted in the first place.

This may be a fit if...

She is talented, but pressure is changing how she competes.
She is open to coaching and willing to practice skills between sessions.
Your family wants her to build skills, not get a temporary confidence boost.
You want her to become more independent in how she handles hard moments.

This is probably not a fit if...

×She has no interest in participating and is being forced into coaching.
×You are looking for someone to guarantee playing time, offers, or statistics.
×You want someone to hype her up without her having to practice anything between sessions.
×The primary need is clinical mental health treatment rather than performance coaching.

Before we talk about private coaching, let’s figure out what is actually getting in her way.

The Competitive Edge Strategy Session shows us where she is strong, where she is getting stuck, what needs attention first, and whether private coaching makes sense for her.
